THUNDER are based on the design of the successful ATHENA Loudspeaker Cable. They use the same cryogenically treated cores but more of them to achieve much lower impedance. In basic terms STORM is equivalent to connecting two pairs of Athena cable in parallel, and THUNDER is equivalent to connecting four pairs of Athena cable in parallel.
Vibration Stabiliser to Reduce Distortion
THUNDER featurethe GN LEGACY VS-2 Vibration Stabiliser developed for the GN Legacy range of cables. The vibration stabiliser has been specially designed to reduce audible cable distortion in cables by limiting the effects of vibrations travelling through the conductor wires which can cause audible distortion to your music.
Advanced Cryogenic and Crystal Sound Processing for a Superior, High Impact Sound.
THUNDER are treated with our advanced DCT++cryogenic processing treatment. This involves temperature processing above and below room temperature. The DCT++ process alters the molecular structure of the cable to improve uniformity. The benefits of this are everlasting and bring an improvement to every single aspect of the cables performance.
In addition to DCT++ THUNDER are also treated with the Crystal Sound Process. The Crystal Sound process, which is applied to the cable following the completed DCT++ process, refocuses the outermost skin of the conductor. The result is that the surface of the conductor is more closely packed and regular, and has a continuity which aids conduction through removal of voids left by the drawing process.
The main benefits of the Crystal Sound process are that bass notes sound more powerful and refined (you will notice a smaller cable can give the same performance as a much larger cable) and other notes will have greater clarity in their sound.
Low Transient Phase Distortion through Innovative Design.
THUNDER give very clear diction of a singer’s voice and separates musical instruments superbly through a dramatic reduction of ‘Transient Phase Distortion’.
‘Transient Phase Distortion’ is reduced by using thicker insulation than is usual in speaker cables, increasing the distance between conductors and thereby reducing the magnetic field seen in each conductor wire as a result of the magnetic field created by the current in the other conductor wire. The benefit in listening is a clearer and more open sound quality.
Low Loss Silicone Rubber insulation for Faster, Sharper Leading Edges and more Natural Decays in Music.
THUNDER deliver not only very fast and sharp leading edges to your music but also more natural lingering decays as the notes die down.
THUNDER use silicone rubber insulation because its low dielectric loss ensures extremely low distortion due to dielectric absorption effects. Dielectric Absorption occurs when the electric audio signal in the cable is absorbed in the insulation and released at a later interval of time to create highly audible time-smearing distortion.
In addition the soft absorbent nature of silicone rubber absorbs mechanical vibration effects in the cable cores and reduces the audible distortion caused by mechanical energy in the conductor wires.
Anti RFI / EMI Technology to Further Reduce Distortion.
The cores of STORM are continuously twisted along their length to prevent the cable acting as a loop aerial. A cable that is untwisted has a larger surface area, therefore has a greater ability to attract RFI/EMI signals generated from Radio, Wifi, Mobile Phones and even central heating systems.
To achieve the same RFI immunisation when using THUNDER, the separate cores must be gently wound around each other.
Additional RFI/EMI filtering is also applied directly to the conductor wire. This prevents high frequency noise modulating the signal at either end of the cable.
Both of the treatments above are designed to further reduce the amount of audible distortion in the cable, allowing cleaner, clearer sounds to be generated from your equipment.
Advanced Manufacturing Techniques to Reduce Noise and Distortion.
THUNDER silver plated copper cores are connected in opposite directions for the positive and negative signals. Our listening tests have shown when connected this way the noise floor between the musical notes lowers. This gives ‘blacker’ silences in the interval between musical notes and enhances reproduction of the musical edges and natural decays in music.

High End Rhodium Plated Connectors – A Cable Is Only Good When All The Parts Are The Very Best Around!
THUNDER are terminated with ultra-high quality Rhodium Plated Locking Banana Plugs. These plugs are exclusively treated with the DCT++ CS treatment to further deliver the benefits discussed earlier, and are exclusively available on Black Rhodium terminated cables.
Rhodium plating is applied to the plugs to ensure a cleaner and less corroded contact is maintained between the plug and socket and its effect is a much livelier and more exciting sound from the music.
Additional security of the connection between the cable and plug is provided by a set screw that clamps the outer insulation of the wire.
